permanent hair reduction, with our alexandrite laser
Our laser is FDA-cleared for permanent hair reduction. That means a long-term, stable drop in the number of hairs that grow back after a series, not every hair gone.
Most people see little or no hair on treated skin for months, even years. It’s rare for every hair in an area to clear. For facial hair on a woman’s lip and chin, hormones keep prompting new hairs, so touch-ups there are normal.
Hair color matters too. The laser needs dark pigment, so it can’t treat blonde, white, or gray hair, and red hair responds poorly. It works best when your hair is darker than your skin.
We vet things well, and that includes being straight with you. If the laser won’t work on your hair, you’ll hear it at your free consultation, before you pay for a series.
Liz is a Colorado native who has spent about 20 years in plastic surgery, laser vein surgery, and medical skin care clinics. She trained at Rocky Mountain Laser College, among other schools, and has been with us for years.
Laser treatments are her main work here, and laser hair removal is part of it. At your first visit, she starts with your hair color and skin tone, because those decide whether laser can help and how your sessions are set.
Liz works on the team Laura leads. Laura, a nurse practitioner, owns the practice and leads its care.
Liz gives excellent facials that are so relaxing and my skin just glows afterwards.
Laura is incredibly knowledgeable about hormone health and aesthetics, Liz is a laser & microneedling pro, and Stephanie does the most wonderful facials!
Liz is a total professional; knowledgeable, experienced and flexible to meet you where you are.
Most are minor: discomfort, swelling, and redness for one to three days.
Less often, people get blistering, a cold-sore outbreak, an infection, scarring, or lighter or darker patches of skin. Skin color usually returns to normal in time, though some changes are permanent. Rarely, hair grows thicker in a treated area, most often on the face or neck. The laser can also injure the eyes, which is why everyone in the room wears eye protection.
So your free consultation comes first, cold air helps protect your skin during treatment, and you tell us about your health before your visit.
Yes, people of every skin tone can have laser hair removal, given the right laser and settings.
Darker skin heats up more, so it’s more prone to burns and dark marks. It needs the right wavelength at lower energy, often over more sessions, from someone experienced with your skin tone.
That’s why your skin gets a careful look at your free consultation, before any session.
Laser may not suit you if you form keloids or unusual scars, or take blood thinners.
This isn’t every reason. Before your visit, tell us about any tendency to scar, cold sores, a recent tan, isotretinoin, or other medicines, aspirin included.
You’re welcome here too. We see many men for hair removal, and the back, shoulders, chest, and neck are common areas for men to treat.
If shaving leaves you with razor burn or ingrown hairs, laser can reduce the hair along your beard line. Back hair can keep growing new follicles with age, so an occasional maintenance session is normal.
Before laser hair removal, skip tanning and sunless tanner, let any tan fade completely, and wear sunscreen every day. Shave the area rather than waxing, plucking, or threading it. Tell Liz about any tendency to scar or form keloids, cold sores, a recent tan, isotretinoin, or other medicines, aspirin included. Our laser hair removal preparation guide has more.
You’ll know what a laser can do for your hair before you commit to a series. The first visit is a free conversation about your hair, your skin, and the areas you have in mind.
Rather ask a question first? Call us; we’re glad to help. Our Littleton office sits in an office park, with a wheelchair-accessible entrance, parking, and restroom. Patients come from Ken Caryl, Columbine, and Lakewood.
